  • The Twitter account of PM Narendra Modi’s official website was hacked on September 3, 2020. The hacker has been identified as John Wick. Upon hacking the account, the hacker tweeted posts inviting donations in cryptocurrency to battle COVID-19 crisis in India.
  • India has ranked 48th position in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2020. India has jumped to four places since 2019. The index was compiled by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) along with Cornell University and the INSEAD business school, presents the latest global innovation trends and annual innovation ranking of 131 economies.
  • Chinese Navy has become the world’s largest navy. The country looks forward to set up its new PLA bases in the Indo-Pacific region. This announcement was made by Pentagon in its report to the US Congress. The Pentagon also reported that China is planning to establish PLA facilities in over 12 countries.
  • Facebook to ban political ads before US election Facebook announced recently that it will ban political advertising the week before the US election. The move is one of the social media giant’s most sweeping moves against disinformation yet as CEO Mark Zuckerberg warned of a “risk of civil unrest” after the vote.
